How to Hire a Tree Service Company

If you need to have trees cut and removed or trees trimmed it is important to hire an experienced and qualified professional to avoid the risk of property damage. Here's how to find the right tree service for any tree service needs you may have.

Step 1 

Evaluate what tree work you need to have done. Consider seriously which trees need to be removed or trimmed. A dead tree near your house can be a significant hazard and probably should be removed.

Step 2

Ask friends and relatives for recommendations or note contractors from trucks working in your neighborhood. If you are having difficulty finding someone, check the internet. Contact a couple tree service contractors in your area for estimates. We feel estimates should always be free. 

Step 3

Have the contractors provide an estimate for the work you want done. Be sure to give each contractor complete (and identical) specifications for the project. You do not want there to be any misconception on what exactly you want done. The contractor should be more than happy to provide you with a written estimate with specifications clearing listed if needed to sure you both are clear on the work to be done. 

Step 4

Ask if the tree service contractors are all properly insured. Coverage should protect against any property damage that may result during the work. Do not hire a contract without insurance coverage. 

Step 5

Ask for references from the contractors. Check with these references. Were customers happy with the work done? Was the project free of incidents or damage? 

Step 6 

Make sure you and your tree service contractor are clear on what is to be done with the debris. Will the contractor remove it all? Will logs be cut up and left for firewood.

Step 7 

Select a contractor based upon what you feel is a fair price for the work, their experience, and your impression of the contractor after you meet with them. Satisfaction with the work at the end is always the goal. And you want you would be happy to recommend to others at the end.
